Builder Bees 24’-25’
Ages 3-6
Honeybee believes in mixed ages classrooms and ensures all students have ample opportunity to explore our campus, Mt. Ogden park and the surrounding trails. If your kiddos is 6 and older they will join our Worker Bees.
To ensure a successful school year make sure you are ready to get your hands dirty, and be prepared to possibly change your mindset about nature. Each child will enjoy a snack and lunch from home each day, depending on their program. We have a fantastic gear list you will get upon enrollment that will arm your Honeybee with the essentials that a nature kid needs to thrive in all of Utahs seasons.
Areas of focus in our weekly explorations
-
Physical Education
We believe that nature and environment is the most important teacher for our students. Nature immersion is a priority in our days spent together regardless of the weather. Having the time and space to freely explore and engage with the elements is vital in processing the varied levels of learning through the year.
Spending time outdoors provides the most nurturing environment for us to challenge our bodies through hiking, climbing and team games.
-
Math and Science
The Natural world automatically inspires curiosity, especially in our growing Honeybees. Student led inquiry of their environment supported by trained leaders opens to door to endless opportunities to have hands on learning about biology, zoology, chemistry and technology.
We will explore science and math through measuring what we find, categorizing it, and making predictions we can test. By using measuring equipment, microscopes, plant and animal identification literature we believe we will help our Honeybees connect ore deeply to their environment and becoming masters of their education.
-
Literacy and Language Arts
We will be exploring language and literature as we read great stories and poetry from around the world. Students will enjoy doing literary projects together like group reading, beginning writing and have the opportunity to use contextually provided materials in open ended play.
-
Art and Community
We will implement art into each subject by providing open-ended materials to manipulate and model the learning happening each day. Students will have to opportunity to learn about regional art and local artists through weekly explorations.
