Worker Bees
Child Led. Community Centric.
Nourishing individualized care is the core value of Honeybee Nature School. We believe that providing a safe and open-ended environment allows for deep connections among individuals and their surroundings while they are establishing their love for learning. We are lucky to provide care in Ogden City! This supportive community has been an excellent backdrop for exploring how we can contribute our unique identities and make a positive impact on immediate surroundings.
While we emphasize seasonal themes, our curriculum is far from a one-size-fits-all approach. Our team designs activities specifically aimed at assessing and enhancing your child's physical, mental, and social development. Based on these evaluations, we curate lessons that provide beautiful growth opportunities. We value open communication and collaboration with you and your Honeybee while working together to set meaningful goals that can have a lasting impact on their educational journey.
Seasonal Sessions
-
Fall: Entomology and Native Plant Identification
In the fall, we delve into entomology, exploring the fascinating world of insects. Students will learn about insect anatomy, life cycles, and their roles in various ecosystems. Alongside this, we focus on native plant identification, teaching students to recognize local flora, understand their importance, and discover how they interact with local wildlife.
-
Winter: Fort Building and Animal Tracking/Navigation
During the winter months, our emphasis shifts to fort building, where students engage in collaborative construction using natural materials. This activity promotes teamwork and creativity. Additionally, we explore animal tracking and navigation techniques, helping students understand animal behaviors and habitats while honing their observation skills in the winter landscape.
-
Spring: Respectful and Mindful Hiking and Gardening
As spring arrives, our focus turns to respectful and mindful hiking. We emphasize the importance of Leave No Trace principles, encouraging students to connect with nature responsibly. This season also includes gardening activities, allowing students to cultivate plants while learning about ecology, sustainability, and the cycles of growth.
Flow of the day
Each morning we begin our day learning through expansive literature, hands on experiments, guided games and nature journaling. In the afternoon we eat lunch, have an age-appropriate rest, finish up any learning from our morning and play to our hearts content.

Tiered Pricing explained-
We are a cooperative school which means we thrive on parent involvement! We want your personal touch each session and year that your family is apart of Honeybee. With both Tiers of pricing we are requiring parent volunteer hours. This can seem like a lot for a family that is already so busy- but don’t fret! We have plenty of ideas of how you can volunteer without eating into your daily flow. A few volunteering options that parents have done in the past look like: arranging a book drive, organizing a potluck for our monthly get togethers, supporting staff for an hour or two during class or for an on campus project, and so many other ideas!
Tier One- 12 Volunteer hours per family per session max 30 hours per school year
Tier Two- 2 Volunteer hours per family per session max 5 hours per school year
